There were several attacks on it starting early yesterday morning and off and on for the last several days. Support is working on the issue and hoping that they will be able to pinpoint where the hackers are so that they problems can they can be taken care of soon. From rngade57 at madisontelco.com Tue Jul 31 02:25:26 2012 From: rngade57 at madisontelco.com (Laura Johnson) Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2012 18:25:26 -0500 Subject: [TI] certificate database is XXXX - up again In-Reply-To: <5013EA23.10502@madisontelco.com> References: <5013EA23.10502@madisontelco.com> Message-ID: <501717E6.1000708@madisontelco.com> Just an update to the database problems. 1. The database appears to be up and running again BUT we had to restore it to a point before the last update. I am in the process of uploading the files to bring it back up to date. This will take several hours to get them all up and merged back together once they are online. Hopefully all will be done by late this evening. 2. During this last downtime, the technicians were able to pinpoint the hackers and their ISPs. The server has now taken the appropriate precautions and has contacted the authorities so that the problems can be taken care of. They were hacking from 5 different places in the US and one in Canada. 3. In the process of this last hacking, some of my admin pages will need to be re-installed, etc. This means that I have no access to them until the program has been reinstalled, etc. sometime tomorrow. So if you have access problems, I cannot check those things out for the time being but if you send me a message, I will check it out as soon as I can. 4. Also, if you renewed or subscribed in the month of July, you might have a bit of trouble with login. We had to restore a backup from earlier in the month so some subscriptions may not appear in the register. As I cannot get into that part of the system yet, I will get everyone back up to date as soon as I gain access - hopefully by later this evening or tomorrow. I appreciate everyone's patience during this time. On 7/28/2012 8:33 AM, Laura Johnson wrote: > Just to let everyone know - I am aware that the database is down > again. Why would anybody want to hack into this database anyway???? Did we offend the mob? Or maybe they just want to do a little free searching into their family trees?
